ABOUT

Note from Bonnie Rupel, Organizer
The Blind Monkey Collaborative will be an unforgettable and unplugged weekend filled with music, art and community where everyone can…

Embrace the outdoors.

Surround yourself with volcano views, mountains, meadows, trails and trees on a working avocado farm in the hills above colonial Antigua, Guatemala.

Expand your mind.

Participate in a variety of enriching classes and activities designed to enlighten and inspire by tapping into your secondary sense, hearing, and finding your inner sight.

Put down your phones.

Disconnect from your devices in a no-WIFI zone where actual listening and interacting are encouraged.

My name is Bonnie and my background is in massage therapy and event planning. Helping people feel better and helping people have a wonderful time are my passions. They say to do what you love and you will love what you do, so that’s what I’m doing… with the help of many creative and talented artists, musicians and teachers.

I invite everyone to this inclusive endeavor:

All ages, cultures and orientations. Musicians and music lovers, poets and painters, hippies and hipsters … and everyone in between. Together, we will create a unique, spontaneous and collaborative environment where we can disconnect from our habits, routines and gadgets and reconnect with both ourselves and our community.

Earth Lodge is an ideal setting with its location and stunning natural beauty. Owners Drew and Briana have created a rustic and tranquil oasis in the clouds at 6,000 feet. Visit on a one-day pass or purchase a full three-day event pass and experience the picturesque views of three volcanoes and the valley below.

Tickets are limited due to the size of the venue, so don’t hesitate… buy your tickets early! I can’t wait to see you there.

The goal

Offer the community a spontaneous and collaborative environment where it is easy to disconnect from the everyday routines of life and reconnect with oneself and others.

Create a place with a natural soundscape, replacing the noisy and stressful sounds with pleasurable sounds that soothe the mind and body.

Introduce many different ways of bringing mindfulness and creativity into your life through art, music, sound, classes, and spoken word.

Carin Steen

Carin Steen left her hometown, the bubbly city of Amsterdam, over 20 years ago for a small town in the rural West of Honduras. Here she worked as an artist and founded the cultural association Arte Acción Copán Ruinas that offered artistic workshops and cultural events to thousands of children in Copán Ruinas and the surrounding Maya villages.

In 2014 Carin moved to Antigua, Guatemala where she keeps painting, from funky dog portraits to gigantic walls. Unable to let go of the social side of the arts, she started an NOGO in 2015 called MuralArte Guate that offers sponsored community murals to schools, clinics, nursing homes, orphanages and other community centres.
